Donna and Steve's
Charity Walk
Photographs from Devon and Somerset
... continued from previous page

Somerset contains its fair share of picturesque cottages and views.

It is said that every army marches on its stomach - which may
go
some way to explaining why armies are almost exclusively male!
Here Mat and Steve cook some great Aussie tucker, meat patties
and sausages
or was it road kill?
No matter, it is all fuel for the endless walking.

Our motto became "Never let the sun go down without a toast".
Any excuse!

Not all country lanes were equally scenic!
Donna and Steve were none too impressed with this view.

The riverside is a good place for a brew.
Steve is patiently waiting to practice the old Aussie trick of
catching fish
by stunning them with his tinnie.
He was not successful - thankfully, as Donna did not fancy gutting
them.

This was not a narrow stream.
At least the crocodiles represent less of a problem in England
than back home.

Mostly Steve navigated by the stars, resorting to maps and the
compass
only when he was certain that we were lost.
What is it about men and directions?
It is not a sign of weakness to ask!
Sorry Donna just had to get this out of her system!

Sadly it was all too soon that Mat had to leave us.
The only upside was that it was an excuse for a drink.
As the empty glass and Donna's smile show,
these were not our first pints.
This was a really happy section of our walk.
Many, many thanks to Mat for joining us and for providing these
photographs.
