Donna and Steve's Wedding
Bullarto Railway Station
Saturday 9th March 2002

Donna and Steve were married on Saturday 9th March 2002.
The ceremony service itself took place at Bullarto Railway Station
on an historic railway line that starts in Daylesford.
Daylesford and Hepburn Springs are at the heart an area close to Melbourne in Australia
known since the early 1890s as "Spa Country".

Daylesford is approximately 100 km to the north-west of Melbourne - follow the red line!
Originally opened in 1880, today it is possible to ride the railway from Daylesford to Bullarto
which used to be an intermediate station on route to Carlsruhe.
Neither Bullarto nor Carlsruhe are shown on the map.

Guests departed Daylesford Railway Station at about 3:00 pm on a 1931 red diesel train
for the 30 minute ride to Bullarto where Donna and Steve together with close family
were ready to greet everyone.

Despite the lean, Steve had not already been at the champagne!

Held at Bullarto station itself, the wedding ceremony was an informal service lasting about 15 minutes.

There were no readings, instead two couples spoke about what they believed
to be important in a relationship.
Everyone was excellent and provided a number of insights.
Thank you to those who performed this service - you know who you are.

One of those who spoke chose to sing an appropriate song rather than talk.
Her comment that
"This seemed like a good idea this morning
but now I think it is a bloody stupid idea!"
was not accurate - it was still a good idea. She was very good.
Thankfully Steve chose not to sing his vows as his voice would not have competed.

Proof that it is all legal!
The marriage was solemnised by Fiona Jane Smethurst,
a civil marriage celebrant from Bendigo, near Daylesford and
witnessed by Don Smith (Donna's father) and Irene Rheinberger (Steve's mother).
For those who do not know, Donna and Steve's full names are
Stephen Anthony Rheinberger and Donna Paulette Smith.
Donna admits that Paulette is not her favourite name -
if you tease her about it, then you should expect a reaction!
